A Happy Ending

October 3, 2010
A letter from her new owner:

Hi guys,

Just thought you would like an update on Jess, we just got home from the 20km "Pink Ride" in the outback at Longreach.  My Dad rode for the first time in 38yrs and he did the whole 20km on Jess.  She was wonderful to him.  We had not ridden her since we bought her but when we got to longreach (680km from Rocky) we unloaded the horses and i was riding my Rio to stretch him out ready for the ride the next day and we took Jess for a walk with us.  We were working Rio in the rodeo yard when Jess kept pawing the ground because she wanted to do something too.  Dad thought seeing we were in yards he would jump on bareback and walk her in the arena with me.  She loved it and so did he ( he only had a halter and lead on her) so i gave him a quick lesson on leg aids and off they went, we got back to the stables and he said "can i ride Jess with you tomorrow"?  And so it happened.  Jess was wonderful and looked after Dad well, she kicked out at the other horses a bit but Dad was ok and he said he never once felt afraid or that Jess would hurt him.  By the end of the ride she was exhausted!!  Dad was having to kick her on just to get her to keep up with the walking pace of the other horses,Ha,ha.  I just thought you would like an update because i love getting updates from the people who bought my Draft horse and i really love it when he has done well, and Jess did really well.  Thanks so much... Katherine

She walked straight onto the float and stood there quietly eating for the 2 hour trip home. She settled in very quickly and it wasn't long before she was into a routine. With...
